JALANDHAR: In a scathing assault on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prevailing situation within the nation throughout second wave of Covid-19, Indian Medical Association (IMA) national vice president Dr Navjot Singh Dahiya has mentioned that in spite of being proved as a ‘failed Prime Minister’ to manage Coronavirus, the PM has relatively emerged as ‘super spreader’ by holding huge political rallies in ballot-sure states. THe PM even allowed ‘Kumbh Mela’ throughout such a severe scenario, he mentioned.

“In 2020, during the initial days of Corona in the month of January, when first patient of Corona was found in India, Prime Minister Modi instead of making arrangements to fight Corona, he preferred to organize the gathering of more than one lakh persons in Gujarat to welcome the then US President Donald Trump,” recalled IMA national vice president, including, “Now when the second wave of Covid-19 is yet to reach its peak, the entire health system is failing as PM did not take any step to strengthen it during the entire year.” He additionally criticized the federal government for backing Baba Ramdev’s ‘Coronil’, which, he mentioned, was disclaimed by WHO on the very subsequent day.
“The scarcity of medical oxygen has become the reason for the death of many patients in every part of the country against the fact that several projects for producing oxygen were still pending with the Union government for clearance and such an important need was not heeded by the Modi government,” Dr Dahiya alleged.
“As India battles a second wave of Covid and states go for lockdown, election rallies and the Kumbh Mela at Haridwar appear to have compromised efforts to curb the spread of the infection,” he argued.
“The impact of the pandemic is clearly visible across the country with bodies piling up in crematoriums and long queues of ambulances outside hospitals in almost every city of the country,” he added. “Even on the issue of farmers’ agitation against farm laws, PM Modi did not act in responsible manner and allowed huge gathering of farmers, without solving their issues, causing a serious threat of Covid spread,” added Dr Dahiya, who earlier additionally remained president of Punjab unit of IMA.
