Modi vs Mamata in Varanasi? PM derides TMC’s challenge | West Bengal Election News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took a dig at Mamata Banerjee after the Trinamool Congress indicated that the West Bengal chief minister might challenge him in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from his constituency Varanasi.
Speaking at an election rally, PM Modi mentioned that TMC’s remarks present that Mamata has conceded her defeat in the continued West Bengal elections and is now eyeing a spot for herself past the state.

“Didi’s party says that she will contest from Varanasi, which makes two things clear – that she has accepted her defeat in Bengal and that Didi has started a search for her space outside Bengal,” the Prime Minister mentioned.

On Friday, the TMC had asserted that Mamata is successful the elections from Nandigram and suggested the Prime Minister to fret about his personal constituency.

“Look for a safer seat in 2024, as you will be challenged in Varanasi,” the Mamata-led occasion had tweeted.
Scoffing at TMC’s challenge, the Prime Minister mentioned Mamata is welcome to strive her hand in the overall election.
“It’s good that you are now trying your hand in Lok Sabha polls after failing in assembly elections. Maybe you are interested in Varanasi due to Haldia-Varanasi waterway made operational under our government,” he quipped.
Stepping up his assault, PM Modi mentioned that even when Mamata does contest from Varanasi, she won’t be known as an “outsider”
“Didi, the people of Varanasi and Uttar Pradesh are so large-hearted that they will not call you ‘outsiders’ or ‘tourists’,” he remarked, referring to the TMC supremo labelling Modi and BJP as “outsiders” in West Bengal.
