Facebook stated Tuesday it’s going to raise a contentious ban on Australian information pages “in the coming days”, after the federal government agreed to amend a world-first media regulation fiercely opposed by the tech big.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Facebook indicated a compromise had been reached on key facets of a regulation that might pressure digital giants to pay information corporations for content material.
“As a result of these changes, we can now work to further our investment in public interest journalism, and restore news on Facebook for Australians in the coming days,” stated Will Easton, managing director of Facebook Australia.
