Covid-19: Weekend lockdown in Maharashtra, stricter curbs from Monday – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Sunday introduced a weekend lockdown in the state from 8pm on Friday to 7am on Monday in a bid to curb the rising numbers of Covid-19 instances in the state.

Apart from the weekend lockdown, strict restrictions will likely be in drive from Monday 8 pm onwards, minority affairs minister and NCP chief Nawab Malik advised reporters after the cupboard assembly.

He stated that evening curfew will proceed and prohibitory orders issued underneath part 144 will likely be drive in the course of the day time in the course of the week.

“Apart from the weekend lockdown, strict restrictions will be in force from 8 pm tomorrow, under which shopping malls, bars, restaurants, small shops will be open only for take-aways and parcels. Government offices will be allowed to function only at 50 per cent of their capacity,” he stated.

Industries and manufacturing sector, vegetable markets will perform with Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) and development websites will function if there may be lodging facility for staff, he added.

Theatres, drama theatres will likely be shut, whereas movie and tv shootings will proceed if there is no such thing as a crowding. Parks and playgrounds may also be closed, he stated.

Religious locations must comply with the SoPs, Malik stated, including that that public transport system will stay practical.

Mumbai metropolis guardian minister Aslam Shaikh advised reporters that work from residence will likely be inspired for workplaces, aside from insurance coverage, mediclaim, electrical energy and civic workplaces.

Essential companies have been exempted from the prevailing evening curfew, he stated.
