NEW DELHI: Asian silver-medallist Deepak Kumar (52kg) superior to the quarterfinals with a facile win as Indian boxers received off to a mixed begin on the 72nd Strandja Memorial Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Deepak, additionally a 2019 India Open gold-medallist, defeated Kazakhstan’s Olzhas Bainiyazov 5-0 in his opening bout to make the final-eight stage.
Other winners on Monday included Naveen Kumar (91kg) amongst males and Jyoti (51kg) within the ladies’s draw.

In the boys’s competitors, Naveen Boora (69kg) and Ankit Khatana (75kg) have gotten byes into the pre-quarterfinals of the event.
